Notification from Key Risk to R. F. Knox Company, Inc.:

R. F. Knox Co., Inc. should be very proud of its safety record. You have an excellent experience modifier at 0.64.  In basic terms, this indicates that you have a 36% better accident record than similar operations in Georgia.

In addition, when I compare your claims experience to similar contractors in Georgia, you are again out performing your competitors. Below is a historical overview of your record.

*National Council on Compensation Insurance, Inc. (NCCI) is the largest provider of workers compensation and employee injury data and statistics in the nation.

**0.823 is the average incident rate for similar operations in GA, code 5538.

***$8.80 is the average total incurred claims dollars per $100 payroll for similar operations in GA, code 5538.

Indemnity rates (cases involving payments for lost work days and/or disability per million dollars payroll) remain below the average for similar operations in Georgia. The average indemnity claims per million dollars payroll for R. F. Knox since 1/1/2006 through 12/31/2009 is 0.228 versus 0.823.  This is outstanding!

Total incurred claims dollars per $100 payroll is well below the NCCI average for similar operations in Georgia. While other sheet metal contractors have an average of $8.80 incurred claims costs per $100 payroll, R. F. Knox has an average of $0.53.  This is outstanding!

Many companies place too much emphasis on the OSHA Injury Rates when evaluating a company's safety record. They compare a company that does an excellent job in properly reporting and recording injuries on their OSHA 300 Logs to the Bureau of Labor and Statistics (BLS) Rates which are based on national data. I have little confidence in BLS rates since they are based on national data, and with over 30 years of safety experience working with many clients that were sheet metal contractors, I know for a fact that many of these contractors did not accurately record injuries on their OSHA Logs!

In closing, I would put your safety record and efforts up against any competitor. When you compare apples to apples using NCCI Data (based on Georgia contractors only) versus comparing apples to oranges using BLS Rates, R. F. Knox Co., Inc. consistently out performs competitors in the local area!
